About That Computer Girl

Donna French - That Computer Girl

Practical tech help from someone who has been doing this for a long time.

Hi, I’m Donna — the person behind That Computer Girl.

I have been building websites, solving technology problems, and helping people make sense of the internet since 1998. Over the years, I have worked across web development, IT support, digital marketing, search engine optimization, cybersecurity, and enterprise technology.

These days, I work as a Senior Security Engineer, but I have never lost my love for the hands-on side of technology: building websites, figuring out why something is broken, making complicated tools easier to understand, and helping people use technology to actually move their business or life forward.

That is what That Computer Girl is all about.

Technology should make your life easier — not make you want to throw your computer out the window.

There is a lot of bad tech advice out there.

Sometimes it is overly technical. Sometimes it is written by people who have never actually had to run a website, send an email campaign, troubleshoot a hacked WordPress site, or explain a security problem to someone who just needs to know what to do next.

I believe good technology advice should be practical, clear, and useful.

Whether you are a small-business owner, blogger, nonprofit, online creator, or simply the person in your family everyone calls when something stops working, I want this site to help you feel more confident online.

No unnecessary jargon. No fake urgency. No “get rich overnight” nonsense.

Just real-world guidance from someone who has spent decades figuring things out, fixing what broke, and building better systems.

What you’ll find here

At That Computer Girl, I share practical advice and resources around topics such as:

  • Websites and WordPress — building, improving, troubleshooting, protecting, and maintaining websites that actually work for you
  • SEO and content strategy — helping people create useful content, improve search visibility, and make smarter decisions about online marketing
  • Email and digital tools — newsletters, deliverability, automation, website tools, and the software that keeps your business moving
  • Cybersecurity and online safety — clear explanations of security topics, privacy, scams, account protection, and safer ways to work online
  • Tech for real life — straightforward answers, product recommendations, how-tos, and lessons learned from years in the field

Some posts are written for business owners and website owners. Some are for people who just want a plain-English answer without spending three hours digging through forums.

Either way, the goal is the same: help you make smarter decisions with technology.

A little more about me

I am based in Arkansas, work in cybersecurity, and have spent most of my career being the person people call when they need something built, fixed, explained, secured, or untangled.

Outside of work, I am a grandmother, pet person, garden experimenter, road-trip lover, race-track fan, and forever-curious problem solver. I enjoy learning new tools, building things from scratch, and finding ways to turn a messy idea into something useful.

I also believe technology does not have to be cold or intimidating. It can be creative, useful, empowering, and sometimes even fun.

Let’s make technology work better for you.

Whether you are here because you need help with a website, want to understand SEO, are trying to protect your online accounts, or just enjoy learning useful tech stuff, I am glad you are here.
